Integrity and Honesty
Every member of The Grand Lodge of Africa is expected to act with honesty, sincerity, and moral courage. Members must speak truthfully, fulfil their commitments, and avoid conduct that may damage the trust placed in them by the Brotherhood, the Lodge, or the wider community.
Respect for All Persons
Members must treat every individual with dignity, courtesy, and fairness regardless of background, nationality, social position, belief, or personal circumstance. Disrespectful language, intimidation, discrimination, harassment, and humiliation are not acceptable within any Lodge activity or communication.
Brotherhood and Unity
Members are expected to promote harmony, mutual support, and unity among Brethren. Personal disagreements should be handled calmly, privately, and respectfully, with the intention of restoring peace and preserving the dignity of all involved.
Confidentiality and Discretion
Information shared within Lodge meetings, ceremonies, official discussions, or private communications must be treated with care and discretion. Members must not disclose confidential matters without proper authority or use privileged information for personal advantage.
Obedience to Lodge Authority
Every member must respect the constitution, regulations, traditions, and lawful decisions of The Grand Lodge of Africa. Members are expected to cooperate with authorised officers and follow proper channels when raising concerns, submitting requests, or seeking clarification.
Responsible Communication
All forms of communication, including letters, email, telephone calls, social media, and messaging platforms, must reflect courtesy and professionalism. Members must avoid spreading rumours, making false claims, using abusive language, or presenting personal opinions as official Lodge positions.
Proper Use of Office and Influence
Members holding positions of leadership must exercise their authority fairly, transparently, and responsibly. No member may misuse a Lodge title, relationship, resource, or connection for personal enrichment, intimidation, favouritism, or any improper purpose.
Financial Responsibility
All Lodge funds, donations, membership payments, charitable contributions, and financial records must be handled honestly and transparently. Members involved in financial matters must maintain accurate records and must not request, receive, or approve unauthorised payments.
Service and Charity
Members should actively support charitable work and community service in a manner that protects the dignity of beneficiaries. Charity must never be used for personal publicity, manipulation, political influence, or private financial gain.
Personal Conduct
Members are expected to maintain behaviour that reflects positively on The Grand Lodge of Africa. Conduct involving violence, fraud, corruption, substance abuse during Lodge activities, dishonesty, or serious misconduct may result in investigation and disciplinary action.
Conflict of Interest
Members must disclose any personal, business, or financial interest that may influence their judgement in Lodge matters. A member should not participate in decisions where personal benefit may conflict with the interests of the Lodge or its charitable mission.
Accountability and Discipline
Every member is responsible for observing this Code of Conduct and for reporting serious violations through the appropriate Lodge channels. Allegations should be reviewed fairly, confidentially, and without prejudice, and any disciplinary action should follow established procedures and allow the member concerned an opportunity to respond.
